The Last Dance is a mock Prom Night DWI Accident involving two vehicles with 4 teenage passengers in each vehicle. This year an additional vehicle was added. A family vehicle with both parents and thier 11 year old son. The performance starts with a 911 call made to the county 911 Center. The local emergency services are then notified and respond to the scene. The State Police and local law enforcement handle the DWI driver and accident investigation, Emergency Services handle patient extrication and medical treatment, and the local coroner handles fatalities. The whole performance is stage in real time. The local schools bring thier 11th and 12th grade students to view the performance as a relaity check prior to Prom Nights.
A great deal of preparation is involved the the staging of the performance. Judy Fagan, the founder of "The Last Dance", organizes the event through close planning with local schools, emergency services, law enforcement, video production, sponsors, and local officials.
